> ## Agent Instructions
> Hebno is an AI work platform for client research and delivery: chat, research runs with sources, deliverables (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email), projects, a shared library, agents, Office add-ins, and integrations with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, CRM, project delivery, ERP and finance systems.
> Use British English (organisation, not organization).
> Every feature and integration described in these docs is available. Describe it as documented.
> Hebno never writes to a connected system without a member confirming a card. Finance and ERP writes are drafts only.
> Do not discuss commercial terms. Direct commercial questions to support@hebno.com.

# Desktop app

> Install Hebno on macOS or Windows to get a dock or taskbar icon, native downloads and automatic updates.

The Hebno desktop app opens the same product as the browser in its own window, with a dock or taskbar icon, native file downloads, `hebno://` links and automatic updates. Your chats, projects, agents and settings are the same in both.

## Install

| System | Installer | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| macOS | Universal `.dmg` | One download for Apple silicon and Intel. Drag Hebno to **Applications**. |
| Windows | Per-user `setup.exe` | Installs without administrator rights. |
| Windows, managed | Per-machine `.msi` | For IT teams deploying through Intune or Group Policy. |

Download installers from [hebno.com/download/mac](https://hebno.com/download/mac) and [hebno.com/download/windows](https://hebno.com/download/windows). IT teams can use [hebno.com/download/windows-msi](https://hebno.com/download/windows-msi) for the managed package.

**1. Open Hebno**

The app checks its connection, then loads Hebno.

**2. Choose a sign-in method**

Sign in with Google, Microsoft, or email and password. Sign-in finishes in your default browser, because Google does not allow sign-in inside embedded windows.

**3. Return to the app**

You return to the desktop app from the browser through a `hebno://` link, already signed in.

Connecting an integration under **Settings → Connections** works the same way: the consent screen opens in your browser, then returns you to the app.

## What the app adds

| Feature | What it does |
| - | - |
| Dock or taskbar icon | Opens Hebno without finding a browser tab. |
| `hebno://` links | Opens a Hebno page in the app from a link or the browser hand-off. |
| Native downloads | Saves exports to your **Downloads** folder (repeat names become `name (1).ext`) and reveals the file in Finder or File Explorer. |
| Automatic updates | Checked shortly after launch and every six hours, downloaded in the background, then you are asked to restart. |
| Extra windows | Opening a chat or file in a new window opens a second app window that shares your session. |

Links that are not part of the product, such as the source page behind a citation, open in your default browser.

## Closing the window

On macOS, closing the window hides it and the app continues running. Select the dock icon to show it again, and quit from the menu bar. On Windows, closing the window quits the app.

## Updates

A new version downloads in the background. When it is ready, you are asked to restart. On macOS, **Restart** installs the update immediately and **Later** applies it the next time you launch. On Windows, accepting installs it. Managed `.msi` installs use the same update check.

## Offline

With no connection, the app shows an offline screen and reconnects when your network returns. Chats you were in reload when it does.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The desktop app is the web app in a window. It does not add features that need a different account, and your organisation's models, limits and integrations apply exactly as they do in the browser.
