> ## Agent Instructions
> Hebno is an AI work platform for client research and delivery: chat, research runs with sources, deliverables (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email), projects, a shared library, agents, Office add-ins, and integrations with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, CRM, project delivery, ERP and finance systems.
> Use British English (organisation, not organization).
> Every feature and integration described in these docs is available. Describe it as documented.
> Hebno never writes to a connected system without a member confirming a card. Finance and ERP writes are drafts only.
> Do not discuss commercial terms. Direct commercial questions to support@hebno.com.
> Start with /index and /get-started/quickstart.

# Word

> Select text in a Word document, ask Hebno to rewrite, summarise or check it, then insert or replace it in place.

The Word add-in lets you send selected text to Hebno and place the reply back in the document, without copying between windows. Install and sign-in steps are on [Office add-ins](https://hebno.com/docs/apps/office-add-ins.md).

## Open the pane

In Word, go to **Home → Hebno → Open Hebno**. The pane shows **Ask Hebno about your work** and the hint "Select text in Word to ask Hebno about it."

## Work on a selection

**1. Select text**

Highlight a paragraph, a clause or a whole section.

**2. Select Use selection**

A **Selected text** card appears above the message box with the character count. Remove it with the close icon if you change your mind.

**3. Add an instruction**

For example "Tighten this to 100 words", "Rewrite for a board audience" or "List the risks in this section". Send it.

**4. Place the reply**

Choose a button under the reply.

## Insert, replace or copy

| Button | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Insert at cursor** | Adds the reply at the cursor. |
| **Replace selection** | Overwrites the text you captured. |
| **Copy** | Copies the reply to your clipboard. |

Hebno confirms with "Inserted into Word." or "Replaced selected text in Word."

**Replace selection** checks that the text selected in the document still matches what you captured. If you have edited or moved the selection since, replace is blocked and you are asked to select again, so nothing is overwritten by accident.

## How inserted text looks

Replies are inserted as plain text in the document's current formatting. Markdown is flattened: bullets arrive as "•" lines and tables show their pipe characters. Apply your own styles after inserting. Hebno does not add comments or tracked changes.

## Use project context and skills

The pane is the normal Hebno chat.

* Tag the chat to a [project](https://hebno.com/docs/projects/create-a-project.md) so replies use that client's files, instructions and linked records.
* Type `/` to attach a [skill](https://hebno.com/docs/automate/skills.md), such as your proposal outline, to the request. You can attach up to three.
* Ask for a source-backed answer in the pane, then insert the text you want.

For a full document with citations, ask in the web app or desktop app and see [Documents](https://hebno.com/docs/deliverables/documents.md).

## Limits

| Item | Limit |
| - | - |
| Selection length | 20,000 characters, longer text is cut with a notice |
| What Hebno reads | Only the selection you capture |
| What it writes | Plain text at the cursor or over the captured selection |
