> ## Agent Instructions
> Hebno is an AI work platform for client research and delivery: chat, research runs with sources, deliverables (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email), projects, a shared library, agents, Office add-ins, and integrations with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, CRM, project delivery, ERP and finance systems.
> Use British English (organisation, not organization).
> Every feature and integration described in these docs is available. Describe it as documented.
> Hebno never writes to a connected system without a member confirming a card. Finance and ERP writes are drafts only.
> Do not discuss commercial terms. Direct commercial questions to support@hebno.com.

# Templates

> Set the look new decks and Word documents are made in, with library and project templates you build in Hebno or upload from Office.

Templates set the fonts, colours and layout every new deck and Word document uses, so client work looks like your firm's without anyone formatting it by hand.

## Where templates are stored

| Place | Open from | Used by |
| - | - | - |
| **Library** templates | **Library → Templates** | Every project that does not have its own default |
| **Project** templates | A project's **Brain → Templates** | Chats in that project |

Templates are grouped as **Presentations** (PowerPoint) and **Word documents**. Filter with **All**, **Word** or **PowerPoint**. Who can add library templates is set in [Workspace library](https://hebno.com/docs/library/workspace-library.md). Project admins manage project templates.

## Add a template

Select **New template** and choose how to make it.

**Build a presentation template** picks fonts, colours and type sizes in Hebno. Name it, then set:

| Section | Settings |
| - | - |
| **Fonts** | Headings and Body, from fonts **Installed with Office** or web fonts |
| **Colours** | Accent, Text on accent, Background, Cards, Headings, Body text, Secondary text, Lines, Charts |
| **Type sizes** | Titles, Slide headings, Subheadings, Body, Captions, Figures |

Sample slides update as you change settings. **Match to accent** fills in the other colours from your accent colour, and Hebno warns when a text colour may be hard to read on its background. Fonts installed with Office look the same for everyone. Someone without a web font installed sees a similar font when they open the PowerPoint. Select **Save template**, or **Discard**.

**Upload a file** adds a Word (`.docx`, `.dotx`) or PowerPoint (`.pptx`, `.potx`) file of up to 25 MB. For PowerPoint, Hebno reads the fonts and colours from the file's theme, so decks look the same in Hebno as in the downloaded file.

A badge shows whether each template is **Uploaded file** or **Built in Hebno**.

## Manage templates

Open a template's menu for these actions.

| Action | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Make default** | Uses it for new decks or documents unless someone picks another |
| **Stop using as default** | Returns to the next default in line |
| **Duplicate** | Copies it |
| **Duplicate to edit** | Makes a built copy of an uploaded PowerPoint template, which you can edit in the builder |
| **Download** | Saves the file |
| **Rename** | Changes the name |
| Delete | Removes it. Files already exported are unchanged |

Each owner (library or project) has one default per format, shown with a **Default** badge. The first template of each kind becomes the default.

## Which template applies

Hebno picks in this order: the project's default, then the library's default, then the built-in look.

* **Brand look** for PowerPoint: your brand colour with Arial.
* **Built-in** for Word: your organisation name and logo in a clean layout, with the name and logo in the header and a page number at the bottom right.

A deck with no pinned template uses the default, so it changes when the default does. Choosing a template for the deck pins it. When someone saves or downloads Word or PowerPoint, they can choose a library template, a project template or the default. See [Save and export](https://hebno.com/docs/deliverables/save-and-export.md#choose-a-template).

When a research run applies a template that fits the request, it uses the template's structure and shows it as a chip in the work trace.

## Switch a deck's template

Open the **Template** panel above the deck. It shows **Default: project name** or the pinned template. Choose another template and the deck redraws in it. Switching clears the deck's own colour and font changes. If the deck has been changed from its template, the panel shows the name followed by **edited**.

To drop the deck's own colours and return to the template's look, select **Reset** and confirm **Reset this deck's theme?**. See [Deck design](https://hebno.com/docs/deliverables/deck-design.md#template-departures-and-reset).

## Save a deck's look as a template

When a deck has the look you want, open the **Template** panel and choose one of:

* **Update project name** to write the deck's fonts, colours and sizes back into the template it is based on.
* **Save as project template** to keep the look for this project.
* **Save as library template** to make it available to every project.

A saved template includes fonts, colours and sizes. Colours set on single slides apply only to that deck.
