# Google Drive

> Connect your Google account to attach files from Google Drive into a chat.

Hebno can attach files straight from your **Google Drive** into a conversation. Files are read on demand when you attach them - nothing is synced, indexed, or kept in the background.

Each member connects their own Google account. A connection is personal to you; it is not shared with your team or organisation.

## Connect your Google account

1. Open **Settings → Connections**, **or** in the chat input open the connector menu (the globe control next to the attachment button), **or** type `/` and choose **Google Drive**.
2. Select **Connect** (or **Connect Google Drive**) and sign in with Google.
3. Approve the requested permission (read-only access to your files).

Hebno returns you to chat once the account is linked. A confirmation toast appears when the connection succeeds. You only connect once - the link stays active for future chats.

### Manage the connection

Open **Settings → Connections** to see status, which account is linked, and to **Reconnect** or **Disconnect**. Disconnecting removes the link from Hebno; you can connect again later.

Other connectors (for example SharePoint or calendars) may appear as **Coming soon** on the same page.

<Note>
  If you see "The Google Drive connector is not configured for this workspace",
  or **Unavailable** under Connections, the connector has not been enabled for
  your organisation yet. Contact your administrator.
</Note>

## Attach a file

With your account connected, attach from Google Drive in either way:

* **Globe menu** → **Google Drive** → browse folders (breadcrumbs or back control) or search by name in the file picker.
* **Slash command** → type `/`, choose **Google Drive**, then pick a file from the list or search by name. Typing in that submenu filters Google Drive files only.

Select a file to attach it to your current message.

The attached file appears as a chip on the message, the same as a file uploaded from your device. Send the message to include it in the conversation.

## What you can attach

The file picker accepts the same files as a normal upload:

* Images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP)
* PDF documents
* Word (`.docx`) and PowerPoint (`.pptx`) files
* Plain text, CSV, and Markdown

Each file must be **25 MB or smaller**. Larger or unsupported files cannot be attached.

### Google Docs and Slides

Native Google formats are converted when you attach them:

| In Google Drive | Attached as |
| --------------- | -------------------- |
| Google Docs     | Word (`.docx`)       |
| Google Slides   | PowerPoint (`.pptx`) |

Other native Google file types (for example Google Sheets, Forms, or Drawings) are not supported yet.

## How your files are handled

* Hebno reads only the file you select, only when you attach it.
* The attached copy is stored in your organisation's **private** storage, so it renders in chat history. It is not publicly accessible.
* Your Google sign-in is stored securely and used only to read files you choose to attach.

## Availability

Today the connector supports **My Drive** (your personal Google Drive). Shared drives are not yet available.
