> ## Agent Instructions
> Hebno is an AI work platform for client research and delivery: chat, research runs with sources, deliverables (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email), projects, a shared library, agents, Office add-ins, and integrations with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, CRM, project delivery, ERP and finance systems.
> Use British English (organisation, not organization).
> Every feature and integration described in these docs is available. Describe it as documented.
> Hebno never writes to a connected system without a member confirming a card. Finance and ERP writes are drafts only.
> Do not discuss commercial terms. Direct commercial questions to support@hebno.com.
> Start with /index and /get-started/quickstart.

# Docusign

> Read Docusign envelopes, recipients, status, templates and completed documents in Hebno, and create draft envelopes from deliverables after you confirm.

The Docusign integration makes signature status available in your client work. Ask whether Contoso has signed the statement of work, who still needs to sign the change order, or what the completed engagement letter says, and Hebno answers from Docusign with each envelope cited. When a deliverable is ready for signature, Hebno prepares a draft envelope after you confirm, and you send it from Docusign yourself.

## At a glance

| | |
| - | - |
| **Connection** | Personal connection. Each member connects their own Docusign user. |
| **Default access** | Read and write |
| **Attach** | Envelopes, completed documents, templates |
| **Search** | Hebno searches Docusign when a request mentions a contract, statement of work, signature, signer, envelope or template |
| **Link** | A project links to one or more Docusign envelopes |
| **Write** | Create a draft envelope from a deliverable. Every write needs a person to confirm. You send the envelope from Docusign. |

## Before you start

You need:

* A Docusign user in the account that sends your client agreements. If you belong to more than one Docusign account, you choose one when you connect.
* A Docusign permission profile that allows sending, such as **DS Sender** or **DS Admin**. A **DS Viewer** user can read envelopes but cannot create drafts.
* An allowed integration. An owner or admin sets **Docusign** to **Allow** under **Admin → Connectors → Catalogue**.

Hebno requests these OAuth scopes through the Docusign Authorization Code Grant:

| Scope | Why Hebno needs it |
| - | - |
| `signature` | Read envelopes, recipients, documents and templates through the eSignature REST API, and create draft envelopes after you confirm |
| `extended` | Renew access between requests so you do not sign in again each day |
| `openid` | Identify your Docusign user and the accounts you belong to |

Docusign accounts are hosted in different regions. Hebno reads your account's base URI from the Docusign user information endpoint, so accounts in North America, Europe, Australia and Canada connect the same way.

## Connect Docusign

**1. Start the connection**

Open **Settings → Connections**, find **Docusign** under **Proposals and signatures** and select **Connect**. You can also select **Connect** from the prompt in a chat.

**2. Sign in to Docusign**

Sign in with your Docusign email, review the access request and select **Allow Access**. If you belong to more than one account, choose the account Hebno should use.

**3. Return to Hebno**

The card shows **Connected** with your Docusign account name.

Hebno reads and writes with your own permissions, so you see only the envelopes you sent, the envelopes you are a recipient on, and the shared envelopes and templates your Docusign user can open. Tokens are encrypted at rest. Select **Disconnect** at any time, or ask an admin to revoke the connection under **Admin → Connectors → Connections**.

## What Hebno reads

| Docusign object | Fields Hebno uses | Typical questions |
| - | - | - |
| **Envelope** | Subject, sender, status (draft, sent, delivered, completed, declined, voided), sent and completed dates, expiry, custom fields | "Has Contoso signed the pricing review statement of work?" |
| **Recipient** | Name, email, role, routing order, status, signed date, decline reason | "Who still needs to sign the Contoso change order?" |
| **Document** | Name, page count, and the text of each document in a completed envelope | "What payment terms are in the signed Contoso engagement letter?" |
| **Certificate of completion** | Signing events, timestamps and signer details | "When did Sarah Chen sign, and from which email?" |
| **Template** | Name, description, folder, recipient roles, documents | "Which template do we use for statements of work?" |
| **Envelope history** | Events such as sent, viewed, signed and resent, with dates | "When was the change order last viewed?" |

Reads are live. Hebno queries Docusign when a request needs it. Only what a reply used is stored with the conversation as its sources.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Excerpts a reply uses become part of the conversation. Anyone you share the conversation with can read them, including contract terms and signer details from Docusign.

## What Hebno writes

Every write appears first as a confirmation card. You can change any field before you select **Confirm**.

| Action | Docusign object | Fields on the card |
| - | - | - |
| **Create a draft envelope** | Envelope with status **created** (draft) | Template or deliverable, email subject, email message, recipients with roles and routing order, carbon copy recipients |

A Docusign change pending confirmation. Nothing is written until you confirm.

The deliverable is attached as a PDF or Word document of up to 25 MB. The draft appears under **Agreements → Drafts** in Docusign, where you place signature fields if the template does not include them, review it and select **Send**. Hebno never sends, resends, voids or corrects an envelope, signs on anyone's behalf, or changes templates or account settings.

Drafts are created as your Docusign user, so Docusign shows you as the sender.

## Link a project to an envelope

Linking marks which envelopes belong to an engagement, so you can ask "is everything signed?" without naming the envelope.

1. Open the project and select **Brain**.
2. Under **Linked records**, select **Link record**, then **Docusign**.
3. Search by envelope subject or recipient and select the envelope. Repeat for each envelope in the engagement, such as the statement of work and any change orders.

In chats tagged to the project, Hebno starts with the linked envelopes for any contract or signature question. Draft envelopes created from the project are linked automatically. See [Linked records](https://hebno.com/docs/projects/linked-records.md).

## Use Docusign in chat

* **Attach**: open the **+** menu, choose **Sources → Docusign**, and pick an envelope, a completed document or a template. Or type `/` and choose **Docusign**.

* **Ask**: name the client, document or signer in your request. For example:

  > Which Contoso envelopes are still waiting for a signature, and who are they waiting on?

  > Summarise the liability and payment terms in the signed Contoso engagement letter.

  > Create a draft envelope for the pricing review statement of work with Sarah Chen as the client signer and Priya Nair copied.

* **Research runs** show a **Checking Docusign** step, with a chip for each envelope and document it read.

* **Agents** can read Docusign on a schedule, for example a Monday list of envelopes waiting more than five days. Writes an agent proposes appear in [agent approvals](https://hebno.com/docs/automate/agent-approvals.md) for review.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Fix |
| - | - |
| Docusign shows `consent_required` | Select **Connect** again and approve the request with **Allow Access**. |
| A draft fails with `USER_LACKS_PERMISSIONS` | Your permission profile does not allow sending. Ask your Docusign admin for **DS Sender** or higher. |
| An envelope you expect is missing | You did not send it, are not a recipient, and it is not shared with you. Ask the sender to share the envelope or its folder. |
| A template is missing from the card | The template is not shared with you in Docusign. Ask its owner to share it with you or your group. |
| Hebno shows the wrong Docusign account | You belong to more than one account. Disconnect and reconnect, choosing the right account. |
| Requests fail with `HOURLY_APIINVOCATION_LIMIT_EXCEEDED` | Docusign limits API calls per account each hour. Wait and retry, or narrow the request. |
