Skills are reusable instruction packs you attach to a chat turn. When you attach a skill, Hebno injects its instructions into the system prompt for that turn - they are not pasted into your message text.

Attach a skill in chat

  1. Open a chat and type / in the message box.
  2. Choose Skills, or keep typing to filter by name or description.
  3. Select a skill. You can attach up to three skills on one turn.
The picker groups skills as:

Organisation skills

Every organisation starts with a default set of organisation skills (for example drafting emails or summarising meeting notes). These are available to everyone in chat. Owners and admins manage them under Admin → Skills:
  • Create, edit, or delete organisation skills
  • Upload a Markdown (.md) file to create one
  • Review personal skills members have shared and remove sharing when needed
Organisation skills are fully editable. They are not read-only platform content.

Personal skills

Members manage personal skills under Settings → Skills:
  • Create or edit a skill (name, short description, instructions)
  • Upload a Markdown (.md) file
  • Delete a skill you own
  • Turn on Share with org so everyone in the organisation can attach it
Shared personal skills appear under Organisation in the chat picker. Only the owner can edit the content. Admins can remove sharing from Admin → Skills without deleting the owner’s copy.

What to put in instructions

Write clear guidance for the model: tone, structure, what to avoid, and British English if that matches your organisation. Keep the description short - it is what people see in the / menu.
