You change how a deck looks by selecting something and saying what you want. The change appears on the slide first and is kept only when you select Apply. Everything you add appears in the PowerPoint and PDF downloads exactly as in the preview.

How to ask

Select text on a slide, or draw a box with Select an area, and describe the look: “make this italic”, “centre this heading”, “make these cards more rounded”, “add shadows to the cards”, “number these bullets”, “make this slide dark green”. You can also ask in chat: “make the subheading on slide 5 italic”. “This slide” means the slide selected in the deck. Hebno changes only what you asked for. Each request shows Apply and a way back to the slide’s plain look, Back to the slide’s plain look. Nothing is kept until you apply it.

Formatting

Points in side-by-side columns always start level with each other.

Colours

Ask for a slide’s page colour, accent colour, text colour or icon colour: “make slide 8 dark green”, “change the accent to deep teal”, “colour the icons in the accent colour”. To change colour across the deck, ask for it by name (“use our blue for headings”). Changing the deck’s fonts, colours or sizes, or applying a page, accent or text colour, moves the deck off its template. A notice appears before you apply: “This takes the deck off its template. It will use a custom look.” See Template departures.

Add to a slide

You can add:
  • A band or panel behind the content
  • A box or circle around something
  • A callout with a few words
  • A line, arrow or connector between things on the slide
For example: “add a light band in the accent colour under the content on slides 3 to 6”, “connect these icons with a vertical line”, “circle the second icon in red”, “add a dashed arrow from the first card to the last”. Draw a box over icons with Select an area to change only those, even where there is no text. What you add moves with the slide when its words change. To remove something, ask: “remove the line on slide 4”.

Icons

Slides use icons from a single set. Ask to change the icon style for the deck, or colour for the icons on one slide (“make the icons on slide 5 red”). A box drawn with Select an area over a row of icons restricts the change to those icons.

Logos and screenshots

Attach a logo, screenshot or photo to your chat message and say where it goes: “put our logo top right on every content slide”, “add this screenshot under the chart on slide 5”. You can then ask to make it smaller, move it, or fade it. Pictures move with the slide when its text changes.

Team photos

Attach the photos and say who is who: “these are our three partners, add a team slide with their names and photos”. Each photo is matched to a person by its file name or by the order you list them, and you are asked when that is unclear. Photos appear as circles above each name. A person without a photo shows their initials. To swap or remove one, ask: “use the second photo for Maria”, “remove the photos”. Photos are cropped to a circle, stripped of location data, and reduced to a sensible size before they go in the deck.

Closing photo

Attach a photo and ask for it on the last slide: “put this photo on the last slide, full size, with Thank you”. The photo fills the slide, darkened so the words on it remain readable. Ask again to swap or remove it. Change the line at the foot of every slide or hide the numbers: “change the footer to Confidential”, “remove the slide numbers”. Footer text and numbering apply to the whole deck.

Section tracker

Ask for a tracker: “show which section we are in”. Once the deck has section slides, the section position appears at the top of each slide. Ask to remove it the same way.

Hidden slides

To keep a slide out of the downloads without deleting it, ask: “hide slide 6”. It is still in the deck, marked Hidden from download, and slide numbers in the PowerPoint and PDF count only the slides that remain. Ask to show it again to bring it back.

Template departures and reset

A deck uses its template until you change something the template owns. When a deck is off its template, the template button above the deck shows the template’s name followed by edited. Colours set on single slides apply only to that deck. Select Reset in the template panel (it shows Reset this deck’s theme?) to remove those colours and changes. Reset preserves italics, bold, alignment, corners, shadows, bullet styles and additions, redrawn in the template’s colours. To keep your changes for other decks, save them as a template. A saved template includes the fonts, colours and sizes. See Templates. Switching to a different template clears the deck’s own colour and font changes.
