The Airtable integration makes your trackers and structured project data available in your client work. Ask which interviews are still unscheduled in a research tracker, what a view shows for this week’s deliverables, or what the team commented on a record, and Hebno answers from Airtable with each record cited. When a request implies a change, such as adding a record or updating a field, Hebno shows a confirmation card and writes to Airtable only after you confirm.

At a glance

Before you start

You need:
  • An Airtable account with access to the bases you want to use.
  • An allowed integration. An owner or admin sets Airtable to Allow under Admin → Connectors → Catalogue.
  • Editor permission or higher on a base to create or update records, and Commenter or higher to comment. Read only access is enough to read.
  • Approval from your Airtable Enterprise admin if they restrict third-party OAuth integrations in the Admin Panel.
Hebno requests these OAuth scopes:

Connect Airtable

1

Start the connection

Open Settings → Connections, find Airtable and select Connect. You can also select Connect from the prompt in a chat.
2

Choose bases

Sign in to Airtable, select Add a base to choose the bases or whole workspaces Hebno may use, and select Grant access.
3

Return to Hebno

The card shows Connected with the number of bases you granted.
Hebno reads and writes with your own permissions, and only in the bases you granted. To add a base later, select Manage bases on the Airtable card in Settings → Connections. Tokens are encrypted at rest. Select Disconnect at any time, or ask an admin to revoke the connection under Admin → Connectors → Connections.

What Hebno reads

Hebno reads records through a view when you name one, so answers use that view’s filters and sort. Linked record fields return the names of the records they point to. Reads are live. Hebno queries Airtable when a request needs it. Only what a reply used is stored with the conversation as its sources.
Excerpts a reply uses become part of the conversation. Anyone you share the conversation with can read them, including field values and comments from Airtable.

What Hebno writes

Every write appears first as a confirmation card. You can change any field before you select Confirm.
Confirmation card for Airtable with editable fields

An Airtable change pending confirmation. Nothing is written until you confirm.

Formula, rollup, lookup, count, autonumber and created time fields are read only on the card. Hebno never deletes records or tables, changes fields, views or permissions, edits automations or interfaces, or changes workspace settings. Writes are made as your Airtable user, so the record history shows you as the person who made the change. Linking marks which Airtable bases or tables belong to an engagement, so you can ask “what is still open?” without naming the base.
  1. Open the project and select Brain.
  2. Under Linked records, select Link record, then Airtable.
  3. Search by base or table name and select it. Repeat for each base or table in the engagement.
In chats tagged to the project, Hebno starts with the linked bases and tables for any delivery question, and cards for new records default to the linked table. See Linked records.

Use Airtable in chat

  • Attach: open the + menu, choose Sources → Airtable, and pick a base, a table, a view or a record. Or type / and choose Airtable.
  • Ask: name the base, table, view or person in your request. For example:
List every record in the Contoso interview tracker with status Not scheduled, grouped by store region.
Summarise the themes in the Notes field across all completed interviews in the Contoso pricing review base.
Set the status of the Manchester store visit record to Done and add a comment that Sarah Chen uploaded the photos.
  • Research runs show a Checking Airtable step, with a chip for each table, view and record it read.
  • Agents can read Airtable on a schedule, for example a Monday list of records in a Due this week view. Writes an agent proposes appear in agent approvals for review.
