The Business Central integration adds finance and project data to client work. Ask how a project is tracking against its budget, which invoices are overdue, or what a customer owes, and Hebno answers from Business Central with each record cited. When a request implies a change, Hebno shows a confirmation card and creates a time registration entry or a draft sales invoice only after you confirm. It never posts.

At a glance

Before you start

You need:
  • An owner or admin role in Hebno.
  • The name of your Business Central environment, for example Production, and the company to connect.
  • A Business Central user for the integration, with permission sets for the data areas you want to read and, if members will write, for time registration and sales invoices. Do not assign SUPER.
  • A directory administrator to approve the permission below, if your tenant blocks user consent. See the Microsoft Entra admin guide.
Hebno requests delegated permission only. A user can reach only what their Business Central permission sets allow.

Connect Business Central

1

Allow the integration

Open Admin → Connectors → Catalogue, find Dynamics 365 Business Central under ERP, and set it to Allow.
2

Connect the organisation

Select Connect and sign in with the integration user’s Microsoft account. Choose the Environment and the Company, then select Test connection. Hebno lists the data areas that user can read.
3

Choose teams and data areas

Under Who can use it, choose All teams or pick teams. Under Data areas, choose what members can see. See Data areas.
4

Set access

Leave Access on Read only, or choose Read and write to let members propose time entries and draft invoices.
The card shows Connected with the environment and company. To use more than one company, connect each one separately. Members link their Microsoft account so reads and writes run under their own Business Central permissions.
  1. Open Settings → Connections, find Dynamics 365 Business Central and select Link your account.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account and approve the permission.
When your account is linked, entries and drafts show your name and you see only what your permission sets allow. Without a linked account, Hebno uses the organisation connection.

Data areas

Data areas control what members of the allowed teams can see through the organisation connection. They apply on top of what the integration user can read.

To share invoices or the ledger with delivery leads, open the card in Admin → Connectors, select the data area and add teams.

What Hebno reads

Reads are live. Hebno queries Business Central when a request needs it, and only what a reply used is stored with the conversation as its sources.
Excerpts a reply uses become part of the conversation. Anyone you share the conversation with can read them, including invoice and ledger figures.

What Hebno writes

Writes create drafts or open entries only. Every write appears first as a confirmation card, and you can change any field before you select Confirm.

Hebno never posts an invoice, posts a journal, changes a ledger entry, approves a time entry, or edits a customer or project in Business Central. A person posts the draft inside Business Central.
  1. Open the Hebno project and select Brain.
  2. Under Linked records, select Link record, then Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  3. Search by customer name or project number and select the record. Repeat for each record in the engagement.
In chats tagged to the project, the linked records are searched first for any budget or receivables question, and cards default to them. See Linked records.

Use Business Central in chat

  • Attach: open the + menu, choose Sources → Dynamics 365 Business Central, and pick a customer, project or invoice. Or type / and choose Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Ask: name the customer or project. For example:
How much of the Contoso pricing review budget have we used, and what is still unbilled?
List overdue Contoso invoices and draft a polite reminder for Priya.
Draft a sales invoice for Contoso Retail covering the 18 hours registered on the pricing review.
  • Research runs show a Checking Dynamics 365 Business Central step, with a chip for each record read.
  • Agents can read Business Central on a schedule, for example a Monday list of invoices past due. Writes an agent proposes appear in agent approvals.
