The Smartsheet integration makes project plans and trackers available in your client work. Ask which rows on an engagement plan are at risk, what a report shows for this week’s milestones, or what the team discussed on a row, and Hebno answers from Smartsheet with each row cited. When a request implies a change, such as adding a row or updating a status, Hebno shows a confirmation card and writes to Smartsheet only after you confirm.

At a glance

Before you start

You need:
  • A Smartsheet account with access to the sheets you want to use.
  • An allowed integration. An owner or admin sets Smartsheet to Allow under Admin → Connectors → Catalogue.
  • Editor sharing permission or higher on a sheet to add or update rows, and Commenter or higher to add comments. Viewer access is enough to read.
Hebno requests these OAuth scopes: Hebno does not request ADMIN_SHEETS, DELETE_SHEETS, SHARE_SHEETS or ADMIN_WORKSPACES, so it cannot change columns, delete sheets or change sharing.

Connect Smartsheet

1

Start the connection

Open Settings → Connections, find Smartsheet and select Connect. You can also select Connect from the prompt in a chat.
2

Sign in to Smartsheet

Sign in, check the access Hebno requests, and select Allow.
3

Return to Hebno

The card shows Connected with your Smartsheet email address.
Hebno reads and writes with your own permissions, so you see only the workspaces, sheets, reports and dashboards that are shared with you in Smartsheet. Tokens are encrypted at rest. Select Disconnect at any time, or ask an admin to revoke the connection under Admin → Connectors → Connections.

What Hebno reads

Hebno reads cell values by column type, so a contact column returns names, a date column returns a date and a symbol column returns its label, such as Red or At Risk. Formulas return their calculated value. Reads are live. Hebno queries Smartsheet when a request needs it. Only what a reply used is stored with the conversation as its sources.
Excerpts a reply uses become part of the conversation. Anyone you share the conversation with can read them, including cell values and comments from Smartsheet.

What Hebno writes

Every write appears first as a confirmation card. You can change any field before you select Confirm.
Confirmation card for Smartsheet with editable fields

A Smartsheet change pending confirmation. Nothing is written until you confirm.

Formula, system and locked columns are read only on the card. Hebno never deletes rows or sheets, changes columns, formulas or sharing, edits automated workflows, or changes reports and dashboards. Writes are made as your Smartsheet user, so the cell history shows you as the person who made the change. Linking marks which Smartsheet sheets and reports belong to an engagement, so you can ask “what is at risk?” without naming the sheet.
  1. Open the project and select Brain.
  2. Under Linked records, select Link record, then Smartsheet.
  3. Search by sheet or report name and select it. Repeat for each sheet or report in the engagement.
In chats tagged to the project, Hebno starts with the linked sheets and reports for any delivery question, and cards for new rows default to the linked sheet. See Linked records.

Use Smartsheet in chat

  • Attach: open the + menu, choose Sources → Smartsheet, and pick a sheet, a row, a report or a dashboard. Or type / and choose Smartsheet.
  • Ask: name the sheet, report or person in your request. For example:
List every row on the Contoso pricing review plan that is at risk or past its end date, with the owner and latest comment.
Draft a steering committee update from the Contoso status dashboard and the milestones report.
Add a row under Phase 2 for “Validate elasticity results”, owner Priya Nair, end date 20 November.
  • Research runs show a Checking Smartsheet step, with a chip for each sheet, report and dashboard it read.
  • Agents can read Smartsheet on a schedule, for example a Monday list of rows that moved to red. Writes an agent proposes appear in agent approvals for review.
